What is the difference between hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanised steel sheets?

Hot-Rolled Sheets are processed at high temperatures (over 1,700°F), making them easier to form and more malleable. They have a rough, blue-grey surface finish and are cost-effective for structural applications where precise dimensions aren’t critical. Hot-rolled steel is ideal for construction components, beams, and general fabrication.

Cold-Rolled Sheets are processed at room temperature, resulting in a smooth, clean surface with superior dimensional accuracy and tighter tolerances. They offer better surface finish, increased strength from strain hardening, and are perfect for applications requiring precise dimensions and aesthetics, such as automotive parts, appliances, and electronic components.

Galvanised Sheets are steel sheets (either hot-rolled or cold-rolled base) coated with a protective layer of zinc through hot-dip galvanising. The zinc coating provides excellent corrosion resistance and significantly extends the product’s lifespan.
